Dodds Park occupies 104 acres on the west side of Champaign and serves as a primary outdoor destination for nearby neighborhoods. The park includes three lighted baseball/softball fields, six lighted tennis courts, two playgrounds, a spray-ground, and a 1.4-mile paved loop trail that connects to the city’s larger trail network. A 22-acre lake stocked for fishing is encircled by a separate 0.8-mile path, and an adjacent 18-hole disc-golf course draws regular users. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and ample parking are situated near the main entrance off John Street, while additional access points along Kirby Avenue and Duncan Road reduce vehicle congestion for residents who walk or bike. Mature tree lines along the perimeter provide shade and buffer adjacent residential streets from park activity. The park’s direct adjacency to Centennial High School and the Champaign Public Library’s Douglass Branch makes multiple daily errands possible without leaving the immediate area.
