East Avenue Park, South Elgin, IL

East Avenue Park covers 42 acres of open land at the intersection of East Avenue and Bowes Road. The park includes a 1.5-mile paved trail that connects to the larger Fox River Trail system, allowing residents to walk or bike north toward downtown Elgin. Two playground structures, one designed for ages 2-5 and another for ages 5-12, sit near the central parking lot. A 10-acre dog park with separate fenced sections for small and large breeds is located at the park’s north end. The southern portion contains three baseball/softball diamonds, two lighted tennis courts, and a basketball court. A 2-acre retention pond supports seasonal fishing and attracts waterfowl. The park is bordered on the east by the Fox River, providing a natural boundary and scenic views from the trail. Restrooms, drinking fountains, and picnic shelters are distributed throughout the grounds. The park is a five-minute drive from the South Elgin Public Library and the Prairie Pointe Shopping Center, which includes a grocery store and pharmacy.
