Washington Park sits on the southwest side of Champaign and offers more than 90 acres of open space that residents use year-round. A 1.3-mile paved loop circles the park, connecting with the larger Champaign County Boneyard Creek trail system for longer runs or bike rides. The park contains lighted tennis courts, two playgrounds with updated equipment, a basketball court, and a large shelter house that can be reserved. At the center is a 12-acre pond stocked for fishing and ringed by a boardwalk where visitors watch waterfowl. Mature trees provide shade along the walking paths, while open fields host pickup soccer and seasonal youth sports. The park’s central location places it within a short drive of the University of Illinois campus, downtown restaurants, and several grocery stores, making it convenient for both weekday routines and weekend recreation.
