Alaqua Country Club, Longwood, FL, Real Estate

Alaqua Country Club sits on 320 acres of former pine forest and wetlands in Longwood, Florida. The course was designed by James D. Holmes in the early 1990s and opened for play in 1993. Its layout threads through stands of live oak, sweetgum, and cypress, with fairways edged by wiregrass and native saw palmetto. Water hazards appear on ten holes, including the 18th green, which sits on a peninsula in a small lake. The greens are TifEagle bermudagrass, while the fairways are Celebration bermudagrass. A 25,000-square-foot clubhouse, completed in 1995, houses a grill room, locker facilities, and a golf shop. The practice area consists of a driving range with separate target greens and a short-game area that includes a 12,000-square-foot putting green. Maintenance records show the course has used a closed-loop irrigation system since 2008, drawing reclaimed water from Seminole County.
