Cecil Field Golf Course occupies the former Naval Air Station Cecil Field grounds in Jacksonville, Florida. The layout was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones and later restored by Arnold Palmer Design Group, preserving its military-era corridors between runways and hangars. The course sits on flat, sandy terrain with minimal elevation change, allowing fairways to run firm and fast. Native live oaks and pines frame many landing areas, while drainage canals and bunkers edged with railroad ties create the primary obstacles. A large retention pond on the back nine collects runoff from surrounding taxiways and is crossed twice by cart paths. The clubhouse, housed in a renovated Navy operations building, features a simple brick exterior and an interior lined with vintage airfield photographs. Practice facilities include a short-game area with multiple target greens and a full-length driving range bordered by chain-link fencing. Irrigation is supplied by on-site wells drawing from the surficial aquifer, and the turf mix consists of Tifway 419 Bermuda on fairways and Celebration Bermuda on greens.
