Headwaters Golf Club sits at 4,000 feet on the Blue Ridge Escarpment in Cashiers, North Carolina. The course occupies a narrow plateau between the Toxaway River and the steep eastern face of Bald Rock Mountain. Native granite outcrops and rhododendron thickets define the fairway edges, while mountain laurel and flame azalea occupy the rough. The routing follows the natural contours of the ridge, crossing several small streams that flow into the Toxaway. Fairways are carpeted with fine fescue, and the greens are built from Penn A-4 bentgrass maintained at 0.125 inches. Drainage follows the natural slope toward the river, keeping play surfaces firm after rain. The property borders the Nantahala National Forest on three sides, limiting future development and preserving the surrounding hardwood canopy.
