Lincolnshire Fields Country Club occupies a rolling, wooded site on the southwest edge of Champaign. The course was built in the late 1960s by architect Richard Nugent and retains many of its original tree-lined fairways and elevated, well-bunkered greens. Water comes into play on nine holes, most notably a pond that guards the right side of the par-4 seventh and a creek that crosses the fairway of the long par-5 thirteenth. Several fairways dogleg sharply around mature hardwoods, requiring precise tee shots, while the closing stretch features two elevated greens that slope from back to front and can produce difficult up-and-downs. The clubhouse, renovated in 2003, sits on a modest rise overlooking the eighteenth green and provides members with indoor and outdoor dining areas plus a practice range adjacent to the first tee.
