Loblolly is a private golf club in Hobe Sound, Florida, designed by Tom Fazio. The course sits on the Intracoastal Waterway and incorporates native wetlands, mangrove stands, and pine flatwoods into its layout. Fairways are lined with cabbage palms and slash pines, while water hazards appear on several holes in the form of lakes and tidal creeks. The greens are planted with TifEagle bermudagrass and are known for their firm, fast surfaces and subtle contours. Natural sand outcroppings and waste bunkers frame many landing areas, reducing the need for traditional manicured bunkers. The routing alternates between open, windswept stretches and tighter corridors through dense vegetation. Throughout the property, preserved natural habitat supports local wildlife, including wading birds and gopher tortoises, consistent with the club’s emphasis on environmental stewardship alongside golf.
