Maplecrest Country Club sits on the western edge of Kenosha and plays across gently rolling glacial terrain that was once farmland. The course was laid out in the 1920s by Tom Bendelow and later refined by Bob Lohmann, whose bunkering and green contours remain largely intact. Fairways are lined with mature sugar maples and a few surviving white oaks that date to the original farmstead. Water enters play on six holes, most notably the creek that crosses the par-4 seventh and the pond guarding the left side of the reachable par-5 fourteenth. Greens are built to USGA standards and are maintained at speeds that range from 10 to 12 on the Stimpmeter. The layout rewards placement over length; several doglegs turn sharply enough that the direct line is blocked by either trees or sand. Cart paths follow the perimeter of most holes, keeping foot traffic off the fairway turf except on the short par-3 eleventh, where players walk from an elevated tee to a green tucked into a natural bowl.
