Battlefield Golf Club occupies a former Civil War battlefield in Ringgold, Georgia. The course’s terrain preserves subtle ridges and swales from the 1863 Battle of Ringgold Gap, where Union and Confederate lines once faced each other across open fields. Fairways follow these historic contours, weaving through stands of oak and hickory that survived the fighting. Several tee boxes sit on elevated knolls once occupied by artillery, while greens occupy the flatter ground below. A small creek, once a water source for troops, now crosses three fairways, its banks lined with native grasses that require minimal irrigation. The layout alternates between tighter corridors framed by mature hardwoods and more open stretches that reveal distant views of the surrounding Appalachian foothills. Cart paths follow the original military roads that crossed the property, their gentle grades reflecting the same routes used by supply wagons in the 1860s. The clubhouse occupies a restored two-story farmhouse that served as a field hospital during the battle.
