Beau Rivage Golf & Resort sits on a former rice plantation along the Cape Fear River south of Wilmington. The course was designed by Joseph L. Lee and opened in 1992. Eighteen holes wind through coastal lowland forest, marsh edges, and tidal creeks that connect to the river. Several holes play beside salt-marsh wetlands where herons and egrets feed; others cut through stands of live oak and pine. The layout includes five par-3 holes and four par-5 holes. Water hazards appear on ten holes, and fairway bunkers guard most landing areas. The greens are TifEagle bermudagrass, and the fairways are Celebration bermudagrass. Practice facilities include a driving range, short-game area, and putting green. The resort clubhouse contains a pro shop, restaurant, and meeting space. Annual rainfall and mild winters keep the course open year-round.
