Boca Rio Golf Club sits on land once used for agriculture in western Boca Raton. The course features a compact routing that weaves through stands of slash pine and Australian pine, with several holes crossing a central canal that serves as the main drainage feature. Bermudagrass fairways are bordered by thick rough that can include native grasses and saw palmetto. Greens are built to USGA specifications and are overseeded in winter with ryegrass. The layout includes a series of dogleg holes that follow the canal’s bends and several forced carries over water on the back nine. Irrigation is supplied by on-site wells drawing from the surficial aquifer, and the club maintains a separate practice range with both grass and mat tees. Cart paths are asphalt and run along the perimeter of most holes to reduce turf wear. The clubhouse, constructed in the late 1960s, contains a grill room and locker facilities but no overnight accommodations.
