Longwood Golf Course occupies a flat, open site in Crete, Illinois, where the layout runs across former farmland bordered by residential streets and scattered tree lines. The fairways are separated by wide strips of rough that channel play toward the greens, which are generally small and firm. Several holes feature dogleg bends that require players to shape shots around clusters of mature hardwoods, while others cross shallow drainage swales that can affect ball lie. The course includes a practice putting green near the first tee and a modest clubhouse that serves as the starting point for rounds. Maintenance crews keep the turf cut short on the putting surfaces and slightly longer in the primary rough, creating a consistent contrast that influences club selection throughout the round.
