Olympia Fields Country Club occupies 600 acres in south suburban Chicago. The club was founded in 1913 and opened its first 18-hole course three years later. The South Course hosted the U.S. Open in 1928 and the PGA Championship in 1925, 1961, and 2003. Its fairways are lined by mature oaks and hickories that were planted shortly after the club’s founding. The North Course, completed in 1923, features slightly more open terrain and a shorter overall routing. Both courses were designed by Scottish architect Willie Park Jr. The clubhouse, a Tudor Revival structure completed in 1925, contains locker rooms, a ballroom, and a library that overlooks the 18th green of the South Course. The club’s irrigation system draws from on-site ponds fed by Thorn Creek. Membership is limited to 400 golfing members, with an additional category for social members who do not play the courses.
