The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin, who competed in the 1969 Ryder Cup at Royal Birkdale. The routing takes advantage of the property’s gentle elevation changes, with greens set on natural rises and a few tee boxes perched above water hazards. Native sand scrubs and wiregrass frame many landing areas, and the club maintains a large population of gopher tortoises under a wildlife-management plan. Irrigation is drawn from on-site wells and a reclaimed-water system. The clubhouse, a low-slung structure of stucco and cypress, sits between the first tee and the eighteenth green, providing views of the finishing stretch and the surrounding pine flatwoods.
