Birkdale Golf Club in Huntersville, North Carolina, was designed by golf course architect Steve Plumer and opened in 1994. The layout features bentgrass greens and fairways, along with a mix of Bermuda grass in the roughs. The course incorporates several water hazards, including a 14-acre lake that comes into play on multiple holes. A prominent creek winds through the property, creating natural boundaries and strategic challenges. The routing takes players through wooded sections and open areas, with several holes playing along the creek corridor. The signature 18th hole plays across water to a peninsula green. The clubhouse, built in a traditional style with stone and timber elements, houses a pro shop, locker rooms, and a restaurant. The practice facility includes a driving range with both natural grass and artificial turf hitting areas, along with short game practice greens. Birkdale hosts local tournaments and charity events throughout the year.
