Canyon Ridge Golf Club sits on the northern edge of Georgia's Ridge and Valley region, where Lookout Mountain's limestone bluffs rise sharply above the course. The layout follows the natural topography rather than imposing a design, routing holes through narrow valleys and across rolling terrain that was once farmland and hardwood forest. Several fairways run parallel to intermittent streams that drain the surrounding ridges, and a handful of holes play toward or across small ponds formed by the same drainage patterns. The bentgrass greens are maintained at moderate speeds and are generally receptive to approach shots played from the correct side of the fairway. Native grasses and second-growth pine frame many landing areas, while occasional rock outcrops and sinkholes create natural hazards that influence both strategy and club selection. The clubhouse occupies a modest ridge-top site with views back across the course toward the mountain face.
