Old Elm Club, Highland Park, IL, Real Estate

Old Elm Club is a private golf course in Highland Park, Illinois. The course was founded in 1913 by a group of Chicago businessmen, including Charles A. Stevens, who served as its first president. The original design was created by C.B. MacDonald and Seth Raynor, with subsequent modifications by George Fazio in the 1960s. The layout follows the natural contours of the glacial terrain, featuring several elevated greens and tee boxes. The course includes a number of long par-3 holes, some requiring carries over ravines or ponds. Oak and elm trees line many fairways, creating defined playing corridors. The club maintains a traditional caddie program and does not permit golf carts on the course. The clubhouse, constructed in 1924, features a red brick exterior and overlooks the 18th green. Old Elm has hosted several amateur tournaments, including the Western Amateur. The course's design emphasizes strategic shot placement over raw distance.
