Peoria Country Club in Peoria Heights, Illinois, sits on rolling terrain north of downtown Peoria and overlooks the Illinois River valley. The course was designed by Scottish architect Tom Bendelow in 1909 and later modified by Donald Ross. Its fairways weave through mature stands of oak and hickory, while small, undulating greens are guarded by deep bunkers and occasional water hazards. Several holes play along steep ravines, creating elevation changes that influence club selection and shot shape. The layout rewards accurate tee shots and thoughtful approach angles, particularly on the inward nine where doglegs and cross-bunkering demand precision. The club has hosted regional tournaments and maintains a classic parkland character with minimal modern landscaping, preserving its early-twentieth-century character.
