Timber Lake is a public course on the west side of Peoria that occupies gently rolling land bordered by mature timber. The fairways are defined by scattered hardwoods and open stretches of turf that slope toward the lake, which sits at the lowest point of the property. Several tee boxes are set on small rises, requiring players to account for changes in elevation when selecting clubs. The greens are modest in size, with subtle breaks that follow the natural drainage toward the water. Cart paths follow the perimeter of the lake on the lower holes and cut through stands of oak and hickory on the upper holes. Bunkers are placed primarily to the sides of the greens rather than in front, leaving the front approach open but narrowing the landing area. The course is maintained with standard irrigation and receives regular aeration, keeping the turf firm under foot traffic throughout the season.
