Brae Loch Country Club sits on the north shore of Grayslake, its fairways set among mature hardwoods and open meadow that slopes gently toward the water. The 18-hole layout, built in the 1920s and redesigned in the 1970s, threads through natural wetlands and stands of oak that define many of the landing areas. Several tee boxes overlook the lake, while the inward nine turns back toward a compact clubhouse whose brick-and-timber architecture dates to the club’s founding. The rough is kept deliberately firm, encouraging players to shape shots around the trees rather than over them. A small practice green and modest driving range sit between the first tee and the parking area, both maintained to the same standard as the main course. Membership is drawn largely from nearby towns, and the club’s calendar includes regular member-guest events and a modest junior program.
