Jake Gaither Golf Course occupies a compact site in Tallahassee, Florida, bordered by residential streets and the northern edge of the FAMU campus. The layout threads through gently rolling terrain punctuated by stands of live oak and longleaf pine. Several fairways run alongside a drainage canal that occasionally comes into play on approach shots. The course includes a mix of straight holes and a few doglegs, with small, slightly elevated greens that slope away from the player on several holes. Irrigation is provided by on-site wells, and the turf consists primarily of TifEagle bermuda on the putting surfaces and Celebration bermuda in the fairways. A modest clubhouse with a snack bar and cart-storage facility sits near the first tee. The practice area is limited to a short grass range and a single putting green adjacent to the parking lot.
