Hope Valley Country Club occupies a 1920s layout in southern Durham that has been refined by several architects while retaining its original routing across rolling Piedmont terrain. The course moves through dense hardwood corridors and open meadow sections, with bentgrass greens that sit at varied elevations relative to approach angles. Water enters play on six holes, most notably along the creek that parallels the inward nine and the pond guarding the par-3 17th. Fairway bunkers are positioned to penalize drives that miss the preferred side of the landing areas, and many greens are guarded by deep, revetted sand traps cut into natural contours. The practice facilities include a driving range with target greens and a short-game area with multiple pitch and bunker complexes. The clubhouse, built in 1926 and renovated in 2004, houses locker rooms, a pro shop, and dining spaces that overlook the finishing holes.
