Carolina Country Club sits on the western edge of Raleigh near the Meredith College campus. The course was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1915. Its fairways run through a mix of pine stands and hardwoods, with several holes following Crabtree Creek as it cuts across the property. The front nine works through lower ground with creek crossings on the fourth and seventh holes. The back nine climbs onto slightly higher terrain and features a pair of sharply angled par fours that require precise tee shots to avoid deep bunkers short of the greens. Several original Ross greens remain, though some have been restored or rebuilt to maintain their intended contours. The course is bordered by established residential neighborhoods, and mature trees frame most landing areas. A small practice facility sits near the clubhouse, which was expanded in the 1990s but retains its original brick exterior.
