The course was routed to preserve existing washes that run through several holes, creating natural waste areas lined with desert vegetation rather than traditional bunkers. Greens are built to USGA standards with TifEagle bermudagrass and are kept firm to emphasize approach accuracy. A network of crushed-granite cart paths follows the natural contours, limiting disturbance to the desert floor. The property sits at roughly 1,800 feet elevation, resulting in lower humidity and firmer turf than lower-lying Phoenix courses. Water is used sparingly; the only irrigated turf is the playing surfaces themselves. Native landscaping is maintained by the city’s desert preservation ordinances, and play is interrupted only when wildlife such as javelina or coyotes cross the fairways.
