Whisper Rock Golf Club sits on the northern edge of Scottsdale in the Sonoran Desert foothills. The 36-hole facility opened in 2001 and maintains two distinct 18-hole courses designed by Gary Panks. Both tracks incorporate the site’s existing boulder outcrops and shallow arroyos, routing fairways between large granite formations rather than clearing them. The bunkers are edged with native decomposed granite, and the turf consists of TifEagle bermudagrass on the greens and 419 bermudagrass on the fairways and tees. Irrigation is supplied by on-site wells supplemented by reclaimed water. The club restricts membership to residents of the adjacent Whisper Rock residential community and operates without a clubhouse restaurant, directing players to a small grill inside the locker-room building. Practice facilities include a short-game area with multiple target greens and a separate range that runs parallel to the first fairway of the Lower Course.
