Pinnacle Peak Country Club sits in the high Sonoran Desert north of Scottsdale, where fairways wind through clusters of saguaro, cholla, and ironwood. The course incorporates the natural elevation changes of the surrounding foothills, with several holes routed along dry washes that come into play after monsoon rains. Bermudagrass tees and fairways contrast with the native desert landscaping kept deliberately minimal outside the playing corridors. Greens are bentgrass, maintained to run firm and true, and several putting surfaces sit on small plateaus that slope away sharply into desert waste areas. Strategic bunkering appears most often on the approach side of greens, while a handful of fairway bunkers guard landing zones where the terrain narrows between rock outcrops. Water is limited to a single pond on the back side that affects only two holes; elsewhere, the primary hazards are the desert itself and the prevailing southwesterly winds that sweep across the exposed higher ground.
