Verandah Golf Club occupies a 640-acre preserve along the Orange River in Fort Myers, Florida. Designed by architects Robert Trent Jones II and Jr., the course traverses mature oak hammocks and cypress wetlands, with water hazards in play on nine holes. Fairways are lined by native sabal palms and slash pines, while elevated tees provide sight lines across tidal marshes that attract migratory birds. The routing alternates between open, wind-exposed stretches and shaded corridors bordered by dense understory. Greens are planted with TifEagle bermudagrass and are kept firm to reward accurate approach shots. Irrigation draws from on-site wells, and the club participates in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, maintaining designated conservation zones that limit mowing near wetland edges. Cart paths are constructed of crushed shell to reduce runoff into adjacent waterways.
