Legends Golf & Country Club sits on the eastern edge of Fort Myers along the Estero River. Designed by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin, the course opened in 1985 and winds through cypress wetlands, slash-pine flatwoods, and former citrus groves. Its fairways are planted with Tifway 419 Bermuda, while the putting surfaces consist of TifEagle ultradwarf Bermuda maintained at 0.100-inch height. Water is in play on fourteen holes, with the river itself forming the right-hand boundary on the closing stretch. A pair of elevated tees on the back nine overlook reclaimed wetlands that serve as both wildlife habitat and stormwater retention. The practice facility includes a 10-acre driving range with target greens and a separate short-game area featuring two bunkers and three bentgrass chipping greens. Irrigation is supplied by a 36-hole recirculating system drawing from on-site wells and the river, reducing municipal demand.
